Physically Demanding Jobs May Lead to Limitations in Later Life

A new study from French researchers finds that people who work in physically demanding professions may experience limitations in their daily activities during their retirement years. According to the study published in Occupational and Environmental Medicine, men with strenuous jobs were 70 percent more likely to have post-retirement limitations in their day-to-day life and women 60 percent.

Notes lead study author Dr. Alexis Descatha to Reuters, “Difficult working conditions and especially biomechanical exposures during the working life are associated with pain and other negative outcomes after retirement. Prevention of bad aging starts by improving working conditions.”
